Shelf Life: 2 years
Caffeine Level: Medium
Tasting Notes: chocolate, smooth, velvety
This smooth and sweet chai marries black tea and spices with roasted cacao bean shells. The rich, creamy notes of chocolate blend well with the malty Assam base, whether prepared simply with hot water or more traditionally, simmered with milk and sweetener.
Ingredients:
cacao shells · black tea · rooibos · vanilla
cardamom · cinnamon · cloves · ginger
Steeping Recommendations:
1 tsp (3-4g) of tea · 1 cup water · 208-212°F
Steep: 5 mins
As always, remove from water to prevent further steeping.
For traditionally(ish) steeped chai:
Add 1 cup of milk per serving into a saucepan.
Bring to a simmer, do not boil!
Add 1 ½ tsp (5g) of chai tea to milk, cover & simmer on low heat for 3-5 mins.
Strain and enjoy!
For a lighter chai, cut milk with water or a plant based mil
Food Safety Advisory: We strongly recommend using filtered or freshly drawn cold water brought to a rolling boil when brewing all types of tea. Today’s water has been known to carry viruses, parasites and bacteria. Boiling the water will kill these elements and reduce the potential incidence of water-borne illnesses.
