Ayurvedic
Shelf Life: 2 years
Caffeine Level: Medium
Infusion: bright copper
Tasting Notes: spicy, peppery, rich
This is our “spiciest” chai blend – it’s spicy, peppery & rich. The fragrant, bold flavors of the spices are prominent and invigorating, with a long warming aftertaste. Can be brewed straight, but is best when simmered on the stove top in water and milk.
Ingredients:
black tea · ginger · black pepper · allspice
cardamom · pink pepper · cinnamon · clove · nutmeg
Steeping Recommendations:
1 tsp of tea · 6-8oz water · 208°F
Steep: 3-5 mins, add milk as desired
As always, take leaves out of the water to prevent further steeping.
For traditionally(ish) steeped chai:
Add 1 cup of milk per serving into a saucepan.
Bring to a simmer, do not boil!
Add 1 ½ tsp (5g) of chai tea to milk, cover & simmer on low heat for 3-5 mins.
Strain and enjoy!
For a lighter chai, cut milk with water or a plant based milk
Food Safety Advisory: We strongly recommend using filtered or freshly drawn cold water brought to a rolling boil when brewing all types of tea. Today’s water has been known to carry viruses, parasites and bacteria. Boiling the water will kill these elements and reduce the potential incidence of water-borne illnesses.
